There are many other ways to help the Vanderburgh Humane Society other than monetary donations. See below for ideas.

Create a Facebook fundraiser for the VHS!
Or, add a Donation button to your Instagram Stories, selecting @vhslifesaver as the recipient!
With Your Feet
Download the “Walk for a Dog” app by Wooftrax from the App Store or Google Play store on your smartphone. Select the Vanderburgh Humane Society as your charity of choice. Walk at least once a week to remain active, and Wooftrax will donate to our animals! You can create a profile for your own dog! Or, if you don’t have a dog, walk with the app’s virtual dog, Cassie!

Choose a Pet-Friendly License Plate next time you renew! Funds from this plate go to Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana, a state organization that funds spay & neuter for low-income Hoosier pet owners. They also provide surgery reimbursement certificates for shelters, rescues, and feral cat TNR organizations statewide. While VHS doesn’t receive direct donations from these plates, we accept these low-income spay & neuter vouchers at our Clinic and we receive surgery reimbursement vouchers from SNSI every year. Your license plate can help us and hundreds of other agencies save lives! Visit www.petfriendlyplate.org to get yours!
With Your Tummy
Stumped on where to grab lunch or dinner? VHS hosts a variety of give-backs at local restaurants every year. Keep an eye on our events page and on our social media for the latest give-back information before you decide where to eat!
With Your Old Stuff
*We are no longer accepting aluminum cans, as the recycling company that hauled them for us has gone out of business. Please recycle your aluminum cans elsewhere as we do not have room for them any longer!*
VHS accepts shoeboxes for our shelter cats to use as “beds.” Everyone knows cats love boxes! Shoeboxes can be dropped off during General Business Hours Tuesday-Saturday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm CST in the front lobby.
VHS accepts clean, non-ripped linens during General Business Hours Tuesday-Saturday from 9:00 am – 6:00 pm CST in the front lobby. These are used for our shelter animals’ bedding, during bathing & cleaning in the Spay & Neuter Clinic, and in various other capacities.
Are you a parent or a teacher? Your kids can help make crafts for our animals! Download the PDF below to see some craft ideas that kids can make for our shelter!
