It can be frustrating dealing with behavior problems with your pets. Sometimes it can be so bad that you consider surrendering them to the shelter. But animals are just like people: there are things that can simply upset them, and every animal is different.
Check out the ASPCA’s Virtual Pet Behaviorist below for some common dog & cat behavior problems and what you can do to help resolve them, such as:
- Destructiveness
- Separation anxiety
- Cats scratching furniture, walls, or drapes
*Please note that the VHS strongly opposes the declawing of cats when not medically necessary. The state of New York and many national veterinary chains such as VCA and Banfield have banned the procedure altogether. Check out The Paw Project for information on why declawing is bad and to find some humane alternatives like nail caps.
- Cats not using the litterbox or urine marking
- Dog aggression & possession
and more!
