Community & National Partnerships

Vanderburgh Humane is a founding member of the Evansville Partnership for Animal Welfare (EPAW) formed in 2013. EPAW is an alliance dedicated to protecting animals in our community through advocacy and education cooperation.

Vanderburgh Humane is a proud member of the Humane Society of the United States' Shelter & Rescue Partner program. (Please note that we are not a "chapter" of HSUS. We are an independent organization.)

Animal Transfers

The VHS regularly transfers animals in from the following agencies as needed:

• Evansville-Vanderburgh Animal Care & Control
• Warrick County Animal Control (Boonville, IN)
• Hopkins County Humane Society (Madisonville, KY)
• Crittenden County Animal Shelter (Marion, KY)

VHS regularly transfers animals out to the following agencies as needed:

• Animal House Shelter (Huntley, IL)
• The Anti-Cruelty Society (Chicago, IL)
• Cincinnati Animal CARE (Cincinnati, OH)
• Various breed-specific rescues

Spay & Neuter Partners

The Davidson-Rausch Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic works with local and regional agencies to combat community cat overpopulation through trap-neuter-release. For information about how to help community cats in your area, visit our Community/Feral Cat TNR page.

The Clinic provides spay/neuter surgeries and/or surgery transports for the following agencies:

• Evansville Animal Care & Control
• It Takes a Village Rescue (IN)
• Warrick County Animal Control (IN)
• Newlife Rescue & Adoption (Formerly Posey Humane Society)(IN)
