PART-TIME VET ASSISTANT - SPAY/NEUTER CLINIC
We are seeking a part-time Vet Assistant to work in our Low-Cost Spay/Neuter and Vaccine Clinics. Our Clinic performs more than 8,000 surgeries a year and provides wellness services to thousands more patients. The Vet Assistants and Vet Technicians assist our two veterinarians with these services, which are invaluable to pet owners in our community who may not otherwise be able to fix or care for their animals. Our Clinic is a powerhouse and its team members must be equally motivated, passionate, and enthusiastic!
Must be able to work Fridays and Saturdays
Must be a dependable, self-motivated individual who maintains a strong initiative to complete duties and doesn’t require a lot of direction from others
Must be able to learn basic veterinary medical concepts and communicate those concepts
Must have strong customer service skills
Must be able to work well individually and as a team player
Must be able to understand and strictly follow instructions
Must possess strong cleaning skills and understand the importance of this in terms of disease transmission
Must be able to humanely handle up to 60 or more animals a day and learn characteristics of animal behavior to ensure a safe environment
Must be able to meet the heavy physical demands of the job including but not limited to standing for 8 or more hours, able to lift and carry 50 pounds multiple times a day, possess good balance and reflexes, and be able to respond quickly to a variety of medical situations
Must be able to learn how to perform vein punctures to obtain blood samples and insert IV catheters, and administer vaccines, microchips, and medications
Must be able to work under stressful situations efficiently and effectively and have the ability to remain calm
Must be able to cope with death due to either surgical complications or humane euthanasia

Full time and Part-Time 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Weekends & some holidays required. Hours may vary; must be flexible. Pay begins at $10.00/hr with benefits.
We are seeking Animal Care Technicians who are passionate about animals and our organization's mission. This position involves daily interaction with homeless animals who are often experiencing the most stressful time in their lives. Our Animal Care Techs are their primary source of the reassurance, love, and interaction they need to make their stay with us as comfortable as possible.
Hands on animal care & kennel/cage cleaning
Daily exposure to corrosive cleaning and disinfecting agents (protective wear provided)
Exposure to, and controlled handling of, various species of animals including:
Dogs of all sizes, breeds, strengths, and energy levels
Other small & exotic animals including (but not limited to) pocket pets, birds, and potbellied pigs
Efficiency (produce quality work at a fast pace)
Candidates must be detail-oriented
Candidates must be self-motivated
A passion to help animals
Compassion toward people and animals
High school diploma or GED
Weekend & some holiday availability
