Nine Former Puppy Mill Dogs Now Safe at VHS
Introducing Ashley, Lola, Alex, Rogue, Storm, Bailey, Zoe, McKinley, and Denali!

Their story: Last week Kentucky Humane Society and Bissell Pet Foundation removed over 100 dogs from a puppy mill in Kentucky. They asked if VHS could take in a few of the dogs and help them find the forever homes they deserve, so we headed to Louisville and returned that night with 9 new friends.

Here they are, already making small strides in confidence and trust! A few of them are quite outgoing, but most are still pretty nervous, especially in open spaces. The dogs' previous 'housing' was outdoor-only and unhygienic. Some of them lived on chains, outdoors in frigid temperatures.

In the last few days, they have started exploring our play yards and building trust with our wonderful animal care staff. Staff members and volunteer Angelina gave them much-needed baths! Some of the dogs will move up for adoption this week. Others need a little more time to adjust, and we'll give them as much time as they need. We will update as soon as anyone moves up for adoption!

Thanks Kentucky Humane Society, BISSELL Pet Foundation, and other partners for putting these beautiful dogs on the road to the lives they deserve, as loved and respected companions, not tools for profit.

All nine will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and fully vetted here at VHS before they head off to their forever homes.
