Spay/Neuter Assistance

For Dogs & Cats in Low-Income Families:

Thanks to Indiana Humane Services (formerly Spay-Neuter Services of Indiana or SNSI)'s Spay/Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), low-income Indiana residents can apply to get vouchers for $25 spay or neuter surgery. We accept these vouchers at our Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic! (Many other vets accept them as well. Click here for the full list.)

Visit the IHS website to apply and pay online! *Please note that mailed-in paper applications are no longer accepted.*

For Nursing Moms:
Yo Mama So Spayed!

Did your dog have puppies? The Vanderburgh Humane Society always accepts litters of puppies. The Yo Mama program guarantees their adoption as long as they remain healthy and reach 8 weeks of age.

To participate in Yo Mama, owners surrender all puppies in the litter to the VHS with no surrender fee! Then, once all puppies have arrived and been signed over, our Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Clinic will schedule an appointment to spay your female dog for free!

It’s a win-win: FREE placement of your dog’s puppies, and FREE spay surgery for your dog!

To inquire about Yo Mama appointments, call our Intake Department at (812) 426-2563 extension 208.

For "Pit Bull"-Type Dogs:
Pit Stop Program

Vanderburgh County residents can get their pit bull-type dogs spayed or neutered for free through the Pit Stop program! A $15 rabies vaccination is required if not current and a $10 DA2PP vaccination is highly recommended.

To inquire about Pit Stop appointments, contact our Spay & Neuter Clinic at (812) 426-2563, option 1.
