The Vanderburgh Humane Society has the areas only low cost, high volume spay/neuter clinic, and since its opening in 2007, over 30,000 animals have been fixed to help combat the animal overpopulation epidemic. Our clinic works hard to make sure that every dog/cat/rabbit here at the VHS is altered prior to going home with a new family. We also extend these services to the public and other animal welfare organizations in our community. There are not enough homes for all of the puppies and kittens brought to our shelter each year and this clinic is the answer to reducing the numbers that are surrendered to us.
Spaying/neutering is such a wonderful gift that can be given to the animals in our community. It decreases the animals chances of getting any kind of reproductive cancer and increases their chances of a longer, healthier life. It is also beneficial to our community itself. Altered animals are less likely to roam and become a nuisance to neighbors, utility workers etc. It is vital that this service be provided and we are beyond proud to offer this service to the Tri-State.
